Henry (Yi He) is a junior at Santa Clara High School (SCHS). Last semester, and for a large part of his sophomore year, Henry had been struggling to achieve a good GPA in high school. He has always been a good student with a positive attitude but had difficulty with motivation and completing assignments on time. His parents were concerned and decided to enroll him in Cambridge Network’s GPA management service. This Cambridge service provided Henry with a personal GPA mentor who could meet with him weekly to enact a plan to raise his GPA.
Through this effort, and with major support from his teachers at school, his host parents, natural parents and Cambridge staff, Henry succeeded in raising his grade from a 1.83 last semester to his current 3.12. He now has set a goal to finish the year with a 3.5 or better. In view of Henry’s increased motivation and success in school, a few Cambridge staff members, his ESL teacher and his Cambridge GPA mentor have all come together to make a short video congratulating him on his academic achievements. They know he should feel a strong sense of achievement from this accomplishment, and that it will add to his motivation to finish the year strong and go into his senior year with head held high.
Henry’s teachers have said many great things about both his attitude in the classroom and academic performance. His ESL teacher, Cayla Poborsky, said, “During the past few months, Henry’s motivation has gone up tremendously. It seems like he is now becoming more focused on college and his university goals, and that is fueling his academics.” His host mother also said, “We are all so proud of Henry. He has worked so hard this year and it is great to see his effort finally pay off.” Henry has a large support network in his school and community as well as back in China. It is great to see all his hard work come to fruition. It is also great to see the amount of support he is getting from those who are invested in him.
