Waltham, MA – July 10, 2020 – Cambridge Network, a leading service provider for international student programs, is excited to partner with St. Mary’s School of Medford, OR, a renowned U.S. private preparatory school, to launch of St. Mary’s Online Academy to provide a synchronous on-site and online education platform for international students.
St. Mary’s School, founded in 1865, has been recognized as the Best Catholic High School in Oregon by Niche and has grown to 10 campuses in China (Shanghai, Beijing, Pinghu, Wuhan, Guiyang, Zhengzhou, and Haimen). Since the coronavirus pandemic’s disruptions to regular school proceedings in early spring, international student programs have closed in-person classes and have moved learning environments online. Many international students returned to their home countries without the reassurance that they would be able to come back to the United States in the fall. With international travel restrictions in place, embassies closed, and looming visa processing delays, international students are worried that they no longer have the possibility to study abroad in the United States. While online learning may be an alternative for domestic students, international students are concerned about receiving equitable accessibility and support virtually. Are international student programs equipped to deal with the logistics of delivering distance learning and support across the world and in different time zones? Would international students be willing to pay tuition fees if they can’t matriculate to the United States?
St. Mary’s Online Academy provides a solution for international student programs for high schools in need of program support and directly addresses international students’ main concerns.
With the opportunity to earn course credits through a certified online education provider, international students can continue their American education through synchronous online learning and on-campus instruction in their native time zones across ten campuses. St. Mary’s School, fully accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED) since 1958, will be offering these high-quality courses and certifying the transcripts. St. Mary’s Online Academy continues in the rich tradition of St. Mary’s School and provides an authentic U.S. educational experience with course credits issued through its premier program. Additionally, students have access to an advanced American curriculum, a full range of Advanced Placement courses, clubs focused on preparing students for cultural assimilation in the U.S., individual language support classes for those who need additional help in English, a bilingual learning coach, and an integrated student grading system enabling students to get instant teacher feedback.
